After a LONG Hiatus ..

It's been a while since I last wrote (advertorials are not counted). I've been pretty busy lately, juggling between work and books AND BOYS. Thanks to this assessment I have to go through EVERY SINGLE YEAR OMG, I now realized how difficult it is to do a part time degree.

In the midst of burying myself with piles and piles of papers (14th July better be my lucky date), I do go for a lot of breaks i.e. movie, Chatime, and tongsui. Current favourite Chatime spot is SS2 Mall while my favourite dessert spot is still Sweet Bean @ SS2.

[commercial break] Would also like to recommend an awesome steakhouse - Jake's Charboiled Steaks @ Damansara Heights. Same row as Victoria Station. While the steaks were undoubtedly one of the best ones around, their escargots were spectacular, credits to the killer sauce.

Escargot Bourguignonne wtf wtf name also so complicated

Random pic of the hungry me, waiting for my steak to arrive. Spot the beautiful pendant bearing the word "eRiCa". One of my birthday presents this year :P

[end of commercial break]

(Been wanting to write this but was too occupied so here you go) One of my closest in MHB, Sarah, had left to NZ to oil NZ's rugby players' hot bods omg I'm so jealous pursue a different career path. I really looked up to her for being so independent and mature at a tender age of 23 (but sometimes can be quite cute and childish, especially when Alex's around).

One of our earlier days. Spotted: Enjoying glasses and glasses of lychee martini :P

Posed for the camera to advertise our gracious sponsors, clubcouture.cc for the beautiful outfit! Spotted at DKNY Belvedere Fashion Meet Music event

During a food review at Skewers @ Subang Avenue Mall

And, a simple farewell for her at The Apartment @ The Curve

I'm gonna miss one kaki to gossip and laugh with at MHB events. Have yet to feel it since I myself MIA from MHB events due to work commitments hehe.

I'm gonna PARTAYYY after 14 JULY!! Say only party but when the time comes I'd prefer to rest and catch on my sleep hahaha.

Really sucks that I have to miss Hennessy Artistry this 9 July, otherwise I'd get to celebrate my 2nd "anniversary event" already :)

Till then xoxo!

The Wok @ The Strand, Kota Damansara

I never really trusted cafe owners when they claimed their food is ORIGINAL from so and so but I guess I cut The Wok owner, Mervyn some slack when I learnt he actually tore down his restaurant in Penang to move down south to KL to serve pitiful non-Penangnites some real good food.

Born and bred in Penang until I was forced to travel all the way down to KL to work, my tastebuds grew accustomed to those I frequented (which are also heavily biased to my parents favourites).

Curry Mee RM 9.00

One good example would be the Curry Mee. While I like it with loads of santan a.k.a. coconut milk (just like how it was served at The Wok) and minimal sambal, many I knew love their curry mee to be dead spicy, which is why the chilli boh is served separately here to accommodate fussy people i.e. ME :P

Char Koay Teow RM 9.00

Char Koay Teow is the king of hawker food in Penang and being a Penang born, I'm pretty particular when it comes to Char Koay Teow. The Wok serves pretty decent Char Koay Teow, albeit a tad too oily but hey, I reckon this is one of the best I could find in 50 km radius. The rest weren't even close.

Prawn Mee RM 9.00

I gotta give in to THIS Prawn Mee. It was done to my liking - Flavourful, generous portion of leow (in Hokkien which means toppings .. or some sort) and not too spicy. The soup was obviously not from those instant chilli/curry powder, unlike many which I tried in KL.

Jiu Hoo Char RM 12.00 (S), RM 17.00 (M), RM 22.00 (L)

I look forward to this the most whenever I visit my grandma, ESPECIALLY during CNY. She's the awesome-ess chef when it comes to Jiu Hoo Char. I love the one I had at The Wok as well. The thin strips of turnip didn't turn out soggy. It's soft yet somewhat crunchy as I chewed on it. I exceptionally love it wrapped with fresh lettuce!

Fresh Gulai Tumis Snapper RM 18 (S), RM 24 (M), RM 34 (L)

Being a fish lover, this is voted to be one of the best I'd ever had! The sweet/spicy/sourish sauce compliments the (fresh) fish so well. I view this would go very well with rice even those on diet would go on double servings!

Tau U Bak RM 15 (S), RM 22 (M), RM 28 (L)

Typical favourites of locals. Chunks of tender pork slow cooked and prepared with hard boiled egg, tau kua, etc. Each goes well and compliments one another, which made this dish a way to go!

Roast Pork Garlic RM 17 (S), RM 24 (M), RM 32 (L)

I seriously do not know anyone who do NOT love siew yok! You can never go wrong with it. The siew yok at The Wok were crunchy yet soft and sinful. Very fragrant and flavourful. A definite addictive dish.

Paku Sambal RM 11 (S), RM 16 (M), RM 21 (L)

My mommy once said a meal is never complete without greens! Paku isn't a very common vege around KL and The Wok made it right with the awesome level of spicyness and generous amount of prawns to compliment the dish.

[L-R] Mango dessert, Cendol Gula Melaka and Sago Durian

My favourite of the whole lot of desserts served was of course the Sago Durian yo! Generous amount of fresh durian and sago. Finished most of this as there are a few who didn't fancy durians much :D

Sago Durian RM 7.00

Pick-up Artist vs. Playboy vs. Player

I was chatting with a friend and our topic revolved around these three roles.

Pick-up Artist. Player. Playboy.

I obviously didn't know the differences among the three so I asked and that's how it started.

A pick-up artist is someone who's skilled (or tries to be) at meeting random women, hoping to get lucky. A skilled one would be able to sweep a girl's feet off without realizing how corny some lines can be while a failure would lead to ignorance, a slap or two or worse, a hurt ego.

A playboy is pretty much one who goes all out to have fun (and probably uses pick-up lines while he's at it) with female companion(s), separately and secretively. For example, a dude with girlfriend who flirts and encourages another girl in one way or another when both girls do not know the existence of one another in his life. Something like that.

Players, on the other hand, make it known to the girl he's up for a one night stand (or two) and it's a mutual thing. The dude who told me all these admitted he's a player but history shows he's committed when he was in a relationship.

Did I get the definition right or did I mess his words up lol. It was a casual chat between us so don't take my words too seriously but opinions and comments are welcomed of course.

Regardless, don't be too careless with who you choose to be with. A clean cut dude may not be as loyal as you may think he is while a happening guy who's often seen with girls around him may not be the player everyone seems to assume ;)

This applies to girls as well.
